Malatya Turgut Özal University, Malatya Metropolitan Municipality, Malatya City Council Women's Assembly, İnönü University, Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Policies, and Community Supported Policing Bureau jointly organised a workshop programme entitled “The Future of the Family in a Changing World”.

During the panel discussion held prior to the workshop, the concept of family was evaluated from different perspectives in a multidimensional manner. Prof. Dr. Cihat Yaşaroğlu, Faculty Member at İnönü University's Faculty of Education, addressed how social values are passed down from generation to generation through the family in his presentation titled “Family Values and Transmission”. Prof. Dr. Ünal Şentürk, a faculty member at İnönü University's Department of Sociology, presented a study titled “Social Change and the Family: Changing Family Patterns from Traditional to Modern,” which evaluated the transformations in family structure alongside the modernisation process from a sociological perspective. Dr Arzu Bozdağ Tulum, a lecturer in the Sociology Department at Malatya Turgut Özal University, drew attention to the place of women within the family and their social roles in her presentation entitled “Family and Women”. The panel was moderated by Prof. Dr Ünal Şentürk.
